Problem
The process of submitting a request or applying for financial assistance was tedious and outdated. Producers had to take time out of their day to come into a county office and fill out tons of paperwork on 11x17 sheets of paper that was overloaded with questions.

From there, the county office employees would have to manually enter all of the information into the system. If the producer wanted to see a summary or status of their request/application, they would have to either go back into the office or call to get an update.

Solution
Create an experience that made this process easier for both producers and employees. For producers, digitizing the request/application meant that they could save time by fill out and submitting online, at home and save as a draft to come back to later. Submitting online also made the jobs of the employees easier by integrating the request/application with the system instead of filling it out manually.

After doing research on other digital applications, we found that a a clean, wizard-like interface would allow the producer to focus on one question at a time to reduce overwhelm. In addition to modernizing this workflow, we also created a details page where the producer can review the information they provided, see the status, and also provide additional documents if the employee requested it.
